Shotcrete

Ameritech uses dry mix shotcrete, usually in conjunction with other stabilization methods as part of a comprehensive assortment of techniques for slope stabilization. Dry mix shotcrete is preferred because it can be pumped several hundred feet vertically and because the water/cement ratio can be adjusted instantaneously by the nozzleman for more effective placement in vertical applications. Steel or synthetic fibers can be added to the mix to achieve greater strength and flexibility. Shotcrete can be an effective facing material to hold earth materials in place between rock bolts, soil nails or other anchors. Groundwater seepage is controlled by proper prior placement of drain board behind the shotcrete.
